Colours

Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint come in 25 Stunning colours and have each been choosen  and named by Marian . There a whites , neutrals and a few vivids to give you that pop of colour we all desire here and there in our home decor. Each colour can be mixed to make custom colours.

Prep.

As with all good quality furniture paint some prep is required, the surface must be clean, dust free and depending on what finish you want to achieve the surface might need a quick sand, use the sandpaper like it was a cloth and give the surface a quick wipe over. If you are desiring the 'chippy' look then you would skip the sanding and just mix the paint and applyy straight on to the surface. If you desire a solid colour with no chipping and you are painting a previously finished wood surface a quick prep and bonding agent is advised.

Painting with Milk Paint.

Milk paint comes in powder form and requires mixing with water. For a solid colour the mixing ratio is one part water and one part Milk Paint, for a stain add more water up to 3 parts, and for a thick textured paint add less. It's different from paint you may be used to and looks thin, but when applied has excellent coverage. When applied to raw wood the Milk Paint acts like a stain, soaking in to the wood and bonding with it, never chipping or peeling and is excellent for outdoor projects. One quart of the Milk Paint will cover approx 70sq ft.

Finishing Milk Paint.

Once the paint is dry and the Milk Paint has done what Milk Paint does , you should have a few areas of loose paint chips ( unless you used the bonding agent for a solid non chipping finish ). Sand or use a plastic scrapping tool to loosen them and finish the project with a fine grit to smooth the finish. Miss Mustard Seed's furniture wax is a smooth creamy consistency and glides on like a dream ,  it comes in clear,  Antiquing and White . The Tough Coat can be used for high traffic areas that need extra protection, but the best and most popular finish is Hemp Oil, this solvent free oil provides a protective water resistant surface, it penatrates the wood and protects from the inside out. As it penatrates it doesnt leave a film on the surface to be scratched  or chipped and  it's 100% natural. It's food safe and is a perfect finish for kitchens , wood stone and some metals too!
